At one point, I decided to read the Bible. To my amazement, I found an abundance of
information about money … and religious frauds. At the time of this writing, I have been a
Christian for twenty nine years. God has never charged me a penny for any of His information -
or acts - on my behalf. And He never will. So, if I am claiming to represent Him to others,
why would I? Of course, I have heard “why” for three decades … but most “whys” are
rationalizations - not reasons. “Freely you received, freely give” (Mt 10:8). Shouldn’t the
Christian seek out this option first?

It was on that summer night of 1979 when after a couple of beers, we were singing some folk and country songs to the accompaniment of a guitar that I was suddenly asked a question: if I were to die that night where would I spend eternity?… It’s amazing how God could easily forgive as long as we come back to Him in true repentance. Truly, our salvation does not depend on what we could do but on what Christ did for us.
If this sounds strange to you, it means you might not have come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. To have that knowledge, first, you have to acknowledge that however good you might be, there are still hidden sins in your life that we might be aware or unaware of.
